Manman Huang

I've always liked painting, but didn't start my (relatively) serious efforts until the first quarantine, spring 2020, years after receiving my MA training in 19th century Chinese-American trade, which was a bit of a pivot! I found out that, for me, there is no better way to express feelings other than by painting them. The colors flowed and I taught myself to use watercolor and acrylic- -- two very different mediums, to be chosen depending on the subject and mood.

The other professional half of me is a Mandarin teacher. I've been teaching for ten years in the states, first in Florida, then Georgia, and now New York and New Jersey. I feel satisfied by introducing art, culture, and language to my students. Perhaps my diverse background as an educator, artist, and historian have combined to impact my style.
