I retouched an earlier painting—the blue vase with peonies—adding a luminous layer of buttery oil.

Compared to the earlier version, this new layer brings more detail and brushwork, giving the painting a more radiant quality. The piece is currently on view at @aniramen for the Windows for Women in March @maplewoodvillagenj . It has already found a new home before the event—thank you for the trust and patience 😊.

“The Way Home” is an oil painting inspired by a view in South Orange, NJ from the train. It is currently on view at @bakerstreetmarket as part of Windows for Women.

I was drawn to the reflective light of a spring rainy day—the glow, and the view toward the reservation.

I’ve created the first giclée stretched canvas print (18” x 24”, the same size as the original). Its arrival has been delayed, but it will be installed in about a week to replace this original one.

The Lunar New Year has arrived, and one of the reasons I like it so much is that it offers a second chance to start fresh with New Year’s resolutions. This week, we had a huge snowstorm. There is an old saying: a timely snow promises a great harvest 瑞雪兆丰年. Perhaps that’s help to feel a little relieved.

I wish everyone a safe, healthy, and prosperous year. Here are some of my paintings inspired by the zodiac animals in the last few years.

I love ink painting, especially during the Lunar New Year. Its smoothness and balance create a harmony between ink and water. It is non-reversible (like life itself), focuses on imagery rather than realism, and often unites calligraphy and poetry.

I will be hosting a Lunar New Year Kids Celebration with Keisha at @so_library on February 24. Children are invited to welcome the Year of the Horse with stories, crafts, music, and hands-on experience with Chinese calligraphy.
